ARTIST bio, Statement

One of the first moments that I realized I was an artist is when I was a teenager living in southern California. I liked to draw. I loved monsters and drew them on shrinky dinks. A friend of mine showed me a Salvador Dali book which introduced me to the concept creative freedom.

When I am in my creative space, life seems to be an existence of continual awakenings. With each new art piece being a new world or idea to explore. I love showing people things they have never seen but also seem familiar, comforting. Showing other people my art is a large part of my drive to do it. Some times I will meditate on a person or group of people when I am creating.

When I had my first art show. I made four painting in a Month. Oceanscapes inside of floating boxes. I was living at home at the time. And my mom said "Maybe your style is things inside of things." I was doing rastamon T-shirts at the time (1987/89). Which works with this motif. Today looking back at all the work I have created over the years I defiantly see this theme within my art.
